Mai Lan Isler was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1995 and to the Virginia State Bar in 1998. Mai Lan received her bachelor of arts degree from the College of William and Mary in 1991, and her juris doctorate degree in May 1995 from Texas Tech University School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude and was the ABA National Moot Court Champion. She was born in Danang, Viet Nam, and was raised in Virginia, Germany, Illinois, Georgia, and Maryland as the daughter of an Army officer.

Prior to joining Capell & Howard in 2003, Mai Lan practiced law in Texas and Virginia, and served as Adjunct Professor and Moot Court Advisor for the College of William and Mary School of Law. While in Texas, she practiced in the Dallas office of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue in the area of commercial litigation and products liability. While in Virginia, she practiced with two different law firms in the areas of employment law and general litigation. She is married to an F-15 fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, and has two young children.
